At Gardiners, we like to give back to the community by helping those in need which is why each year we donate to local and regional charitable organizations that make our community stronger.
Alex's Lemonade Stand
Is a unique foundation that evolved from a young cancer patient's front yard lemonade stand to a nationwide fundraising movement to find a cure for childhood cancer. Since Alexandra "Alex" Scott (1996-2004) set up her front yard stand at the age of four, more than $10 million has been raised towards fulfilling her dream of finding a cure for all children with cancer. Gardiner’s Furniture PROUDLY hosts a lemonade stand annually! Alex's Lemonade Stand Foundation
Every year around the holidays Gardiners has an Angel Tree set up in each of our 5 locations. Angels are chosen by members of the community as individuals or groups, such as businesses, church groups, civic organizations, etc. The child's wants and needs for Christmas are listed on his/her angel and the person or group that adopts the angel provides the Christmas gifts for that child. Gifts are brought back to the Gardiners store where the angel was chosen & then given to the Salvation Army to distribute.
Race for the Cure
For the past 4 years Gardiners has teamed up with WLIF (101.9 Lite FM) in a fight for the cure for breast cancer. With survivors and activists in 125 cities and communities, more than 100 Komen Race for the Cure® events in the United States and three International Affiliates, Susan G. Komen for the Cure is the most progressive grassroots organization fighting breast cancer today.
Johns Hopkins Children's Center
The Johns Hopkins Children's Center is consistently ranked as one of the top three children's hospitals in the nation and we are happy to help sponsor this local hospital that provides compassionate care to over 90,000 children each year. Annually, we team up with WWMX (Mix 106.5) to do a Radio-A-Thon where all proceeds are donated to Johns Hopkins Children's Center.
Maryland State Police Polar Bear Plunge
Gardiners has been a proud sponsor of the Maryland State Police Polar Bear Plunge for the past 5 years. Plunge participants take a quick dip in the Chesapeake Bay to raise funds for Special Olympics Maryland, the state’s largest year-round organization devoted to sports training and competition for children and adults with intellectual disabilities. The event is open to the public, and all spectators are welcome free of charge. All proceeds benefit Special Olympics Maryland.
